Hi poops,
I have just adopted a 12 year old long haired cat from a local shelter. He has brown/black tiger markings with a white chest and white feet. What should I name him?
In Turkey, fertile ground for creationism
U.S. critics of evolution help translate their ideas for a society already torn between Islam and secularism
Sema Ergezen teaches biology to Turkish students interested in teaching science themselves, and she has long struggled with her students' ignorance of, and sometimes hostility to, the notion of evolution.
But she was taken aback when several of her Marmara University students recently accused her of being an atheist, or worse, for teaching anything but the doctrine that God created the Earth and everything on it.
"They said I was a liar if I called myself a Muslim because I also accepted evolution," she said.
What especially disturbed -- and amused -- the veteran professor was that the arguments for creationism presented by some of the students came directly from the country where she was educated in the biological sciences years before -- the United States. Translated and adapted for a Muslim society, the purported proofs that Darwinism and evolution were wrong came directly from American proponents of Christian creationism and its less overtly religious offshoot, intelligent design.

Joseph Cao: Health Care's LONE Republican Supporter Is Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao
One Republican lawmaker out of 177 crossed party lines to support the health care reform legislation offered by Democrats.
Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao, the Louisiana Republican who hails from a decidedly Democratic New Orleans district, voted yea on the final passage of legislation. He joined 219 Democrats to make the final margin 220 to 215 in favor of reform's passage.
Cao was a major (and possibly the lone) target for Democrats hoping to get even a semblance of bipartisan support for the bill. He said after the vote that he had obtained a "commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana."
In the past, Cao has been touted by House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) as "the future" of the GOP. Republicans clearly went the distance to keep him in the fold for the health care vote. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who promised protesters at a Tea Party rally this week that "not one Republican will vote for this bill," was standing beside Cao as the historic vote unfolded.

Greetings,
I just ordered and have begun to use hair sticks fashioned by etsy craftsman screaminnorwegian. Specificially, my sticks are a 7 inch-long (3/8" wide) pair made of corian (yes - countertop material).
This pair is perfect for keeping a firm hold on my thick, coarse, curly shoulder length hair - in fact, I really only need 1 of the 2 at any given time. While I've seen wooden and metal sticks, I've not encountered too many made from countertop material!
In comparison, I've had little luck with sticks or forks found in most mainstream establishments. The metals ones inevitably bend (then break), and the (thin) wooden ones just snap in two. Jezzard's chignon pins worked quite well on my hair - however, a bit beyond what I can budget. At $18 + S/H, the corian pair are quite a nice purchase.
Has anyone else tried corian (silestone, marble) sticks? I'd love to compare notes.
An associate of mine is selling brand new in the box STAG Arms lowers. They are $110 each plus $8 shipping to your ffl. Sequential serial numbers are available. Multiple orders to same address pay same $8 shiping charge. Insurance extra. Send me message for specifics.
Hey all,
Anyone want to show off their long differently color hair? I'm about 2 inches from waist-length at the moment with pretty wavy hair. I was thinking about dying my hair pink or some other color but I feel like it would look silly and "interesting" colors look better on short hair.
Prove me wrong!
Pictures please?
~*~EDIT~*~
Thanks so much for the quick responses. Moment of weakness I guess, I've been growing my hair out from maybe an inch long (basically buzzed) to the current length for 3 years. Looking into henna or something similar to get a more red hue over my natural brown...

So, even if your family is OK with your difference, the community at large might not be? This makes me very sad.
We hit the max counter on the other Live Post!!!! part one part two
They are starting up the vote. But I think the Democrats are doing a filibuster unamimous consent for such and such to delay the vote.
This is getting lulzy.

When we reach 4000 I'm posting a part three.
So, in preparatation for Cata I've been levelling my druid (who will become a troll). I love tanking a lot, but... I'm not very good at it. So I come to you ladies for help.
I have no issues with health even though my gear is somewhat sub-par for a 38.
My main issue is grabbing mobs when I lose aggro on them. I can't find them to growl them, and when I do find them I can't target them among all the players attacking them.
Does anyone know a good addon or ingame fix for this type of issue? Thanks.
It seems like there are a LOT of picture posts lately.
Which is a good thing, right? Text-only advice is great, but I love to see pictures of everyone else's hair growth and especially pictures of all of you longhairs' hair. It inspires me to keep going!
So hopefully this is inspiring to somebody out there??
I think my hair has JUST BARELY reached BSL. It would have probably been there months ago if I haven't been so crazy with my trimming/dusting. D: I think I'm just going to stop. I've probably cut a good 2-3 inches off in the past couple of months. Eeep.

NEW YORK -- New York City office workers who got carried away during the Yankees victory parade Friday apparently began tossing files and documents out the window when they couldn't get their hands on confetti.
Auditor Damian Salo attended the Manhattan parade. He told The New York Post he found all sorts of personal financial documents in the mountains of shredded paper tossed from skyscrapers as the players rode up Broadway.
"We're finding pay stubs. We're finding personal financial information. We found a balance sheet of someone's trust fund showing $300,000 in stock," Salo told the Post.
Other intact documents included banking data, law firm memos and even some court files.
The founder of one financial firm, Alan Sarroff, says his company reprimanded one "overzealous" employee for throwing records out the window that should have been shredded.
Ticker-tape parades on Broadway are a New York tradition.
The city's Downtown Alliance provided more than a half-ton of shredded, recycled paper to skyscrapers and offices down Broadway -- actual ticker-tape has not been used in decades.
"The idea of our confetti was to urge people not to use prior documents or anything inappropriate," Downtown Alliance spokesperson James Yolles told New York broadcast station WPIX.
Way to go New York financial institutions! Keep up the good work of improving your reputation!
DEMS: WE HAVE THE VOTES... HEALTH CARE WILL PASS TONIGHT
7:20 PM ET -- Democratic aides: We've got the votes. "Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act," Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on the House floor Saturday evening. Politico is reporting that Democrats have at least the 218 votes needed to pass the bill. Three Democratic aides tell HuffPost the same thing.
Kristie Greco, a spokeswoman for Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), declined to confirm the number.
The news that Pelosi has the votes can have unpredictable effects on undecided members. Some members, seeing the bill passing, may want to pile on and get on the side of history. Others react by thinking that they can now oppose it, look tough at home, but not jeopardize passage. Toward that end, watch for a handful of no votes to dribble out from Dems over the next hour or so.
A note of caution: Republicans are still allowed a parliamentary procedure known as a "motion to recommit." Within that motion, they could include any sort of mischief they see fit: conventional wisdom is that the motion will include some language concerning illegal immigration, but if any decision has been made, aides are being mum about it. Depending on whether it passes and how it impacts the bill, it could sway a vote or two on final passage, but it's unlikely, because the motion can be ignored as the House and Senate work to merge their bills later in the legislative process.
A Dem aide guessed that 9:30 PM ET was looking like a rough approximation of the time for a final vote.
( Horrific end result of the Horde's raid on Stormwind today )
Since discovering my true love, pvp, I've been stuck with 3 out of 4 on my For the Alliance achievement for what feels like forever. Org is just so incredibly difficult! At least it seems so at the moment. The ones I have done though were a ton of fun. Even when about 50 people showed up and trounced us when Thrall was at 20% hp, it was a blast. So let's talk about world pvp and getting our war bears. Do you love it? Hate it? End up vaguely amused when you walk into the capital only to find it strewn with skeletons everywhere?
*I actually completely missed the whole thing, teled to Stormwind to use the auction house, went to the wintergrasp guy and woah skeletons all over, goddamnit I miss all the fun stuff around here
So, I've dropped my wide-tooth plastic comb in the shower so many times that a bunch of the teeth have fallen off, and it's about time to get a new one. When I bought that one I didn't know anything about long hair, I just heard in Allure that they were better. Now I am a bit more informed, but have to ask the question;
What type of WTC is the best for detangling and gentlest for long hair? Soft plastic? Hard plastic? Metal? I think that wood is out of the question for me because I de-tangle in the shower and wood gets swollen. My hair, as everyone knows by now, looks like this: (I'm on the right)
And here is a bonus pic, of a "milk-maid" style hair braided with ribbons

I'm a 20-something IT professional, and I WoW.
I'm also a writer, sometimes by profession, always by nature. Lately I've been finding myself wishing I could post about WoW on my blog without boring my non-WoW playing friends to death. Obviously a new blog was called for - and finding the WoW Ladies community on LJ brought me here.
I play Alliance on the Frostwolf-PVP realm, and I am a member of a New Zealand focused guild, World Famous. I'm a serious alt-a-holic, with 5 characters over 60. I'm an actual girl, rather than just playing one on the internet. I'm PVP focused, although I do have a healer who sometimes runs in my guild's main progression.
